Free Tools for eBay Resellers (2026 Edition)

8 genuinely free tools every eBay reseller should know in 2026 - pricing comps, photo tools, shipping, accounting. Plus the paid tool we build, and why it isn't on the free list.

Disclosure: Taylor Family Software builds FlowLister. It is not free ($0.99 for the first 7 days, then $19.99 a month), so it is not on the free list below; it’s under “What’s NOT free”. The 8 free tools are independent of us.

Reselling on eBay has thin margins. The difference between a profitable seller and a hobbyist is usually two things: time spent per listing, and tools used. The good news: most of the tools you actually need are free or have generous free tiers. Here are eight for 2026.

Quick answer: Start with eBay’s own free Terapeak comps tool, a free Google Sheet for accounting, and Pirate Ship for labels. Below: five more.

How we picked these

Three criteria:

The list

1. eBay Terapeak (Free Inside Seller Hub)

What it does: sold-listing comps, search trends, category insights, eBay’s own data. Free tier: 100% free for any seller with eBay Seller Hub access. Why it matters: this is the actual ground truth for pricing. Every other comp tool is reverse-engineering Terapeak. Use the original.

It’s hidden under Seller Hub → Research → Terapeak. Most beginners don’t know it exists.

2. Google Sheets, Free Accounting

What it does: track inventory, COGS, sale price, fees, shipping cost, profit per item. Free tier: the whole product. Why it matters: if you list 50 items and don’t track, you don’t know if you’re profitable. A simple spreadsheet (item, source price, list price, sold price, fees, shipping, net) is worth more than fancy software you won’t use.

We have a sheet template at our contact page, email and we’ll send it.

3. Google Lens, Free Identification

What it does: photograph anything, get brand/model/identification. Free tier: entirely free in the Google app. Why it matters: when you can’t tell what something is, vintage glass, an unmarked tool, an obscure electronics part, Lens often finds it. Saves you 20 minutes of research per item.

4. Pirate Ship, Free Discounted Shipping Labels

What it does: USPS shipping labels at commercial rates, no signup fees. Free tier: the whole service. Pay only for postage. Why it matters: you save 10–25% per label vs. retail USPS. Add up across 100 packages a month and it’s real money.

5. PhotoRoom or Remove.bg, Free Photo Backgrounds

What it does: remove backgrounds from product photos in one click. Free tier: PhotoRoom: solid free tier. Remove.bg: limited free tier, paid above. Why it matters: clean white backgrounds increase click-through. Doing this manually in Photoshop is 5 minutes per item; these do it in 5 seconds.

6. eBay Mobile App, Free Photo + Quick Edit

What it does: photograph items right into a draft listing on your phone. Free tier: the whole app. Why it matters: most resellers waste time moving photos from phone to computer. Listing directly from the phone (or photographing into FlowLister directly) skips that step.

7. Bonanza or Mercari Cross-Post (Free Tier), Free Diversification

What it does: post your inventory to a second marketplace. Free tier: Bonanza is free to list (commission only on sale). Mercari is free. Why it matters: not everything sells well on eBay. Cross-posting to a second platform can move slow inventory.

8. Notion or Trello (Free Tier), Free Workflow Management

What it does: track which items are sourced, photographed, listed, sold, shipped. Free tier: Notion free tier is generous. Trello free tier is sufficient for one person. Why it matters: at 50+ items in flight, your memory isn’t enough. You’ll lose track of what’s where.

What to avoid

FAQ

Will I get banned for using third-party listing tools? No. eBay actively encourages third-party tools through their developer program. FlowLister and similar tools use the official eBay API. The agreements are open.

Is FlowLister free? No. It’s $0.99 for the first 7 days, then $19.99 a month. There is no free plan, which is why it isn’t on this list.

What’s the single biggest time saver? Photo-to-listing AI. Going from “type all the fields manually” to “snap a photo, review the AI’s draft” is the largest single jump in reseller productivity available right now.

Should I really use Google Sheets for accounting and not QuickBooks? For your first 6 months: yes. Once you’re consistently profitable and listing 50+ items/month, look at QuickBooks Self-Employed. Early on, the friction of QB is greater than the friction of Sheets.

Verdict

Reselling profitably in 2026 doesn’t require expensive software. It requires the right free tools used consistently. Start with Terapeak for comps, Pirate Ship for shipping, and a Google Sheet for tracking. When typing listings becomes the bottleneck, look at FlowLister, our AI eBay listing tool (paid). That’s a profitable stack. Everything else is optimization.
